Yn ystod gwanwyn a haf 2023, bu disgyblion Ysgol Casmael yn ymchwilio i enwau hanesyddol caeau yr ardal lle maen nhw’n byw. Wrth weithio ar brosiect ‘Perci Ni’, fe ddysgon nhw sut mae hen enwau yn drysorfa o wybodaeth am y gorffennol. Cafodd eu geirfa ei gyfoethogi â geiriau sy’n perthyn i hanes amaethyddiaeth yr ardal.
Dathlwyd cwblhau y gwaith gyda diwrnod arbennig ar 11-7-24 pan y gwahoddwyd ffrindiau i neuadd yr ysgol, a bu’r plant yn perfformio cân a gyfansoddwyd ganddynt, gan egluro i bawb am y prosiect. Dadorchuddiwyd arwydd a thaflenni map sy’n dangos enwau llawer iawn o’r perci o gwmpas y pentre.
“Perci Ni” (Our fields) – Ysgol Casmael
During the spring and summer of 2023, Puncheston School pupils researched the historic names of fields in the area where they live. While working on the ‘Perci Ni’ (Our fields) project, they learnt about how old names are a treasure trove of information about the past. Their vocabulary was enriched with words that belong to the history of agriculture in the area.
The completion of the work was celebrated with a special day on 11-7-24 when friends were invited to the school hall, and the children performed a song they had composed, explaining to everyone about the project. A sign and guide map were unveiled which show the names of many of the fields around the village.
